Warder Elementary School offers a variety a academic and mental health supports for students.
Academic Support
Small Group Reading Interventions: based on assessments and monitored for effectiveness
WIN block (What I need): a time set aside to make sure students get what they need to grow and succeed
Learning Specialists: work with students on IEPs to give the support determined in their plan
READ Plans: students below grade level receive approved reading interventions to make growth
ALPs: students receive appropriate challenge, enrichment, and support based on goals set with the student and their families.
Mental Health Supports
PBIS: Encourages PAWS behavior—Pride and respect, Accepting responsibility, Winning attitude, and Safe environment. Students are recognized and rewarded at different levels:
- Pom-Poms: The whole school works together to earn a collective reward.
- Roaring Wildcats: Classrooms earn rewards for demonstrating teamwork and positive behavior.
- Wildcat Recognition: Individual students are celebrated by the principal for outstanding behavior and effort.
Check-In/Check-Out: Helps students who need extra structure, feedback, and encouragement to meet behavior expectations
Social Skills Groups: Small groups led by our Social Emotional Learning Specialist, who teaches kids how to interact appropriately with others their age. They learn conversational, friendship, and problem-solving skills. They help teach children to manage their emotions and understand the perspectives of others.
Calming Corner: Each classroom has a small, designated pot in the classroom where students can go to regulate their emotions and calm down when they feel upset, frustrated, anxious, or overwhelmed.
Individualized Career & Academic Plan (ICAP)
ICAPs help guide Warder students and families in their exploration of career, academic and postsecondary opportunities.
